Project Description/Goal
A “Silent art gallery” social media website.
Motivation
Very often, discourse in the form of communication (comments, replies, etc.) dominates art-hosting websites (Deviantart, Tumblr, Twitter, Artstation, etc.) Our project serves to create a more peaceful art-sharing space with a veil of anonymity— no text whatsoever.*
There are no comments— just reactions, like Discord’s emoji reactions. There are no follower counts/like counts/share counts— though you can do this, the anxiety of numbers is gone.
We would also like to hone specific UI skills— a website with no text requires a UI/UX that is accessible and friendly to the user. We will take advantage of the mascot, IQ’s, expressiveness (an animal animated by an animator can express so much with little words— he can help guide the user) a clever UI that utilizes common, world-wide symbols to represent actions, and a format that is open to artists and art-lovers alike.
* Passwords, usernames, terms and conditions, accessibility hover text, etc. are exceptions.
